Kazakhstan grants Turkestan special status to preserve heritage and boost tourism

ASTANA. March 3 (Interfax-Kazakhstan) - Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has signed a law granting the city of Turkestan a special status, recognizing it as a spiritual, historical, cultural, and tourist center, as well as an architectural heritage site of Kazakhstan.
